strong, admirable women of faith are? If you answered "yes",

You
shall not commit adultery.-Exodus 20:14 (NKJV)
Most of us would say, "Well of course!"
And yet this commandment is not as simple as it appears.
Committing adultery is not just a physical action. Adultery
includes emotional and mental actions as well. but of
course, none of us would find ourselves on that slippery
slope-or would we?
Are youreading any of those slightly steamy romance novels
or watching contemporary chick flicks that tell us that we
deserve it all? Are you sharing things about your marriage
with a male co-worker or friend because you value his
advice? Are you finding yourself enjoying the company of a
male friend because he makes you feel good or compliments
you and you're hungry for positive male feedback?
Let me state this as clearly as I can-any thought, any
emotion, any action that does not honor your marriage and/or
your husband is in violation of this commandment. I am
forever grateful for a piece of advice someone gave me just
before Mark and I were married. I was told that instead of
praying that God would make Mark a better husband I should
pray that God would make me the wife He would have me be for
Mark. Wise words, excellent advice.
God will
honor our honest desire to honor our husbands and our
marriages. There will be no need to seek validation from
somewhere else if we focus on our roles as wives in the
marriage and let God do the work in our husband's hearts.

A New Year's Greeting and A New Focus
I am always reflective at the end of a year. I take
stock and review how I have lived my life for Christ, the laughs I've
shared, the tears I've shed and the friends I've made.
This year I am particularly reflective as I consider the HER-oes
ministry. Faith is a process and so is ministry. The Lord has had me on
a roller coaster ride in 2006, revealing, teaching, and blessing me in
so many areas. His vision for HER-oes has become much clearer over the
past twelve months. Because my heart's desire to so to follow Him
wherever He leads me, I will be making some changes to this site and to
the ministry structure in the next few months.
We are not changing our focus, we are narrowing our vision and honing in
on what God has placed before us to do. And that is
.
To encourage women to live their faith out loud. To show them through
the example of women in Scripture that God calls women to many areas of
service in the body.
To show that the church contains a body of women who fall in between
the category of angry pulpit grabbing harridan and silent unhappy
doormat.
To reach out into our communities and the world to bring the truth and
joy of a life in Christ to women who do not know Him. To show the joy of
faith to those who do not believe that a life as a Christ follower has
anything to offer them.
To honor and follow God's direction for our ministry and our lives
through the study of Scripture. To study women in Scripture and take
Scripture in context, both Biblically and culturally, to find that
direction.
To teach the Biblical principle that women and men are equal in
purpose but separate in function,
To honor the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman and to
believe that Ephesians 5:22 is not a "stand alone" rule for marriage but
that it must be understood and followed in the entirety of the command
(verses 22-30). Where there is submission on the part of the wife and
honor on the part of the husband, there is a true marriage relationship
as the Lord intended.
To celebrate and highlight those women who are HER-oes, in order to
raise up role models for women of faith and for those who do not know
the abundance of a life in Christ.
Over the next few months we will be doing some site re-design. We covet
your prayers and your input. Let's talk about where God is leading us as
women. Let's celebrate our agreement and agree to disagree with respect
and grace. Let's explore our uniqueness in Christ, our empowerment from
the Lord and our place in His story.
Walk with me down this path and let's discover what it means to be a
HER-oe! I would love to hear your
thoughts about women's unique place in the body of believers.
Blessings to you and yours in the new year,
Anita Aurit
