HER-oe: Just as God created woman
from the rib of man, the word for female role models of faith is found
within the word for male role models. There is no need to create a
new one. The word
HER-oe represents the description of the life of
a Christ following woman. She is equal in purpose and separate in function
from her male counterparts.
There is reason, beauty and purpose in the plan God has for women.
Study the Old and the New Testament and you will meet women who are
strong, leaders of armies, home makers, mothers, queens, prophetesses
and more. Christian women have stopped looking at Scripture for
the guidelines for their life. Somewhere along the way we have
chosen to embrace the world’s philosophies and rules for our lives.
We bought the lie that women in Scripture have no relevance for our
lives. We treated Scripture with a "That was then, this is now"
attitude. We didn't really look at how
God dealt with women in the Old Testament and how Jesus dealt with them
in the New Testament. Instead, we chose to focus on how man dealt
with women and becoming angered at how men made rules we felt were
unjust and self-serving, we lost our direction and sent ourselves into
feelings of conflict, anger and entitlement.
The HER-oes
ministry is one woman’s passion borne out of the lessons God has taught
her as well as the truths He has shown her by studying the lives and
culture of women in Scripture. Through these women she found her
road map and purpose for life as a Christian woman and it is her prayer
that this ministry will be the compass that points other women to the
truths of the fabulous, powerful, wonderful, joyful life of a
HER-oe!

The Mission of the HER-oes ministry:
To
assist Christian women in finding their identity through the example of
the women in Scripture and not through the world’s standards.
To show
women who are not Christ followers what power and strength and joy there
is living as a woman of God.
To
raise up and recognize HER-oes to provide a tangible, attainable image
of what it is to live your faith out loud.
To
provide realistic role models for all women to inspire us to live our
life as HER-oes.
What We Believe
We
believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, a living document
that is the compass with which our lives are to be directed.
We
believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that His death on the
cross provided all those who profess faith in Him the opportunity to be
in relationship with God and to have eternal life.
We
believe that as Christ Followers, it is critical that we live what we
believe in order to serve as a role model to others and to honor Christ
by the way we live our lives.
We believe that faith, just like life, is a process.
“And
you yourself must be an example to them by doing good deeds of every
kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of
your teaching. Let your teaching be so correct that it can't be
criticized. Then those who want to argue will be ashamed because they
won't have anything bad to say about us.”

Meet the Founder of HER-oes
 The HER-oes ministry evolved as God worked in the life of it’s founder,
Anita Aurit. Anita’s faith has been a journey which started when she
gave her life to Christ in her late twenties. She came to Christ as a
single, career woman with a head full of ideas and beliefs that she had
taken from the world of feminism. As she grew in Christ she began to
explore the truth of Scripture. As she navigated the twists and turns
of her life, the Lord led her further and further along the path of
study of the women in Scripture. Understanding the way God dealt with
women in the Old Testament and the way Jesus dealt with them in the New
Testament gave new direction and confidence to her as a woman of
Christ. She began to see understand what God's calling for women
was and not what any man or woman had decided it should be. This
knowledge and understanding gave her more peace, joy and confidence than
anything she had experienced in her faith before.
What began as a quest has turned into a passion and a ministry and
today, Anita shares with other women how incredibly contemporary the
lives of women in Scripture really are and how we can use their examples
to find our own place in the world.
She challenges women to examine who they are in Christ and she believes
that the power we have in Him is greater than any movement created by
man (or by woman) on this earth. Her motto, “I am the daughter of the
Lion of Judah, hear me roar!” is her rallying cry to all women of faith
to move into the strength and power they have through Christ.
Anita is a speaker, writer and former Internet radio show producer and
host. She lives in Northern Idaho with her husband and four fabulous
felines (who sometimes pop up in the strangest places on the website.)
