A HER-oe is a real life role model.  She might be a successful business woman, a stay at home mom, a sister, a daughter, a grandmother, a friend.  Being a HER-oe requires living your faith out loud and being a woman of  God that all women can look up to and emulate.  Our gallery of HER-oes is dedicated to all those women who walk in faith, love the Lord and never compromise what they believe.  Thank you to all of them for giving us a true standard of measure!

  Diane Heavin
Co-founder of Curves, with husband Gary.  In the first issue of the Curves magazine, "Diane" when asked by an interviewer about the fact that she was "religious" she gave an incredible statement of faith.  Diane and Gary are strong supporters of the American Family Association and the pro-life movement.  All Curves gyms have wonderful worship work out music available.  Diane puts the message of her faith before any fears of business repercussions because of her walk with Christ.

Quote from Diane in a CBN interview: "We listen to God. We pray first, we listen, and He gives us the answers—not all the time, not when we want them necessarily. Then we’re obedient."

  Jennifer RothschildJennifer Rothschild
Jennifer lost her sight at 15 and faced the loss of her dreams of being an artist. Instead of turning inward and giving up, she turned her attention outward and walked into the arms of Christ.  Jennifer is the founder of Women's Ministry Network, she's a prolific writer and an accomplished singer.  In 2004 she joined the Women of Faith speaker's team.  Jennifer has made her life a praise to God and she pours herself into the lives of women, showing us how to live every moment for Him.

Quote from Jennifer in Today's Pentecostal Evagel: ""When I received Christ, I was totally captivated. My natural response as I walked through my teenage years was just abandonment toward Him. I never sought to achieve anything like writing or singing. They occurred as a result of my walk with Him.  The ministry we receive is from God for us to become His hands. We can’t take credit for it. I do believe in stewardship, though. I believe God has trusted me with this position, and I want to walk humbly and be a good steward of the opportunity. But I don’t ever want to take ownership of what God has done".

  Barlow Girl
Great music, talented young women and real role models!
Rebecca, Alyssa and Lauren Barlow are HER-oes who focus their musical message on the topics of trusting God, purity and their stand on not dating. They epitomize the ideal of young Christian women and show the world that you can be talented, beautiful and a strong Christ follower!  Moms-rush out and get this CD for your daughter!  You go girls!

Quotes from the Barlow Girl website: "In a world that constantly bombards us with impurity and immodesty, we feel called to take a stand against what the world is telling us is acceptable. Especially in the area of clothing and modesty."   "We believe that God has one perfect man already chosen for us; therefore we have no need to worry ourselves in searching for him. When the time is right we know God will bring us together. In the meantime we are not hiding in a closet avoiding all males. We are still living our lives, just without the pressure of having to have a boyfriend."

A prolific writer, an inspired speaker and a woman who not only lives her faith out loud but who is using her past and God's work in her life to inspire, encourage and enlighten the lives of other women.  As Kathy presses into the arms of God she opens her life and her heart.  She is a HER-oe in every sense of the word.  A woman to be admired, a woman to inspire, a woman to serve as a role model for all of us.

Quote from Kathy's website:
"As long as we are on this earth, we will always struggle with surrendering something to God. Instead of focusing on having a sinless life, we should focus on growing spiritually. We’ll never be perfect, but we can learn, mature, and become more like Christ."

Pennie Priest tells how she accepted Christ as her personal savior at age 11 while attending a camp for the hearing impaired. She is at her home church, Hopewell Baptist Church in Plant City.Pennie Priest
Pennie Priest's joy in the Lord shines through in her smile.  The hope and the light of her smile is what drew her husband Chris to Christ   He describes it as the "little seed" that sparked his wanting to know the Lord.  Pennie became a
Christian at a Florida Baptist summer camp for deaf and hearing impaired persons in 1987, and since that time she has spent her life communicating the Gospel through her testimony of salvation.  What a lesson for us all when we fear to speak the truth of Christ to others.  God can bring someone to Him through a smile!

A quote from Pennie in an article in the Florida Baptist Witness: "
I tell them ‘I have Jesus in my heart.’ I always know that Jesus is right here beside me, even though I can’t see him, I know he’s there. He never leaves me and that’s why I’m so happy.”
